More Than $200,000 in Jewels Stolen from Art Paris Fair
Thieves made off with approximately $213,000 worth of jewels during the Art Paris Fair, which has been held annually at Paris’s Grand Palais (also home to contemporary art fairs FIAC and Paris Photo) since 2012. This year’s edition welcomed 140 modern art galleries and over 54,000 visitors during its four-day run from March 30 to April 2, 2017.
According to L’Express, on Sunday evening, while the exhibitor booths were being dismantled, two thieves approached a saleswoman who was waiting for a goods carrier. One of the perpetrators distracted the woman by dropping money on the floor while his accomplice snatched a suitcase filled with jewelry. The name of the owner of the items has not been disclosed.
